Hello and welcome to our final part of our July adventure. Thanks for sticking through and reading our posts! Let's jump right back in, leaving Florence for Rome via train.

When we arrived in Rome we stopped for lunch and soon settled into our place. After settling in we found another restaurant and explored our neighborhood. We found the Trevi Fountain and an amazing gelateria. Lucky for us the gelato was just across the street.

Our second day in Rome we explored the Vatican Museum. We saw papal carriages and the "pope-mobile." We also saw quite a bit of art work and sculptures as well as the famed Sistine Chapel. After a quick stop for lunch, we went to St. Peter's Basilica. Inside was an amazing collection of sculptures and marble. We had a great time seeing this iconic building.

The next day we went exploring for ancient ruins around the city. We started at the Colosseum and took plenty of pictures in the early morning sun. We wen further and found the Roman Forum as well as another forum. It was fun to see these sites and think about how amazing it is that these places still exist. We also found the Roman Pantheon, which is now a functioning church, and a quite a few Egyptian obelisks. The ancient Romans brought these obelisks back from their time in Egypt to show how powerful they are. After all this exploring we decided to head back to our place and pack because the next day would begin the final leg of our adventure.

Our four person crew boarded a plane in Rome and landed back in Sofia. Chris and I were glad to be back but also excited to show off our new home. A lot of our first day in Sofia was settling in and getting ready for our next few days.

The next day we once went on the Free Sofia Tour. It was a great tour and learned more about some of the communist fixtures of the city. After a quick burger lunch we went back to campus where we had a quick tour and a nice home made dinner.

Our third day in Sofia consisted mostly of shopping for souvenirs. We visited the woman's market and walked down Vitosha street to find plenty of goodies. After a quick break we went wine tasting and enjoyed some great Bulgarian wines. We ended our day with a fabulous dinner from one of our favorite restaurants in the city.

The next day Chris and I said 'see you later' to our traveling companions. It was a lovely summer adventure and we were grateful for all the people that joined us. It was so nice to travel and see new things. We are already planning new adventures and can't wait to see what this year brings.
